Higher Education and Careers Guidance

From the Fourth Form (Year 10) onwards, there is a structured programme of Careers and HE guidance. Some of this is delivered within the current CPSHE curriculum; other information is provided by specific events or through independent tests.

The information below outlines our provision by year group to give a flavour of just some of the events we hold at Reed’s to support this area:

FOURTH AND FIFTH FORM (Years 10 & 11)

  • Futurewise Profiling (psychometric and interest based tests to advise students on career aspirations)

  • One-to-One interviews with external career specialists

  • Fifth Form Options Evening

  • Work Experience programme, including interview and CV preparation

LOWER SIXTH (Year 12)

  • One-to-One interviews either with a member of the Sixth Form team or external specialist to discuss university and other HE options

  • Visit to UCAS exhibition at University of Surrey

  • Subject Extension week

  • FutureUni Fair

  • HE day with talks from university admission tutors

  • Departmental visits for subject tasters

UPPER SIXTH (Year 13)

  • Oxbridge Preparation Day

  • Departmental visits for subject tasters

  • Individual UCAS guidance from HE team

ALL YEAR GROUPS

  • FutureCareers seminar programme

  • FutureCareers Fair

  • Monthly Bulletins detailing opportunities to explore specific career/HE pathways

  • Focussed time in tutor groups for HE and Career discussions
